What's your favorite type of restaurant?
dicksbro
11-20-2005, 07:12 AM
Oh gosh, that's tough. For realively fast, decent meals at a good price ... places like the Cracker Barrel; for a night out with my wife ... Peoria has a place called Alexander's Steak House where patrons cook their own 16oz steaks (if they want to ... and it is fun) over an open grill about the size of a ping-pong table, get all their potatoes, salad and bread (Texas toast) for the low $20's (depends on meat choice which range from T-bones to sirloins to pork chops and more). Then, there are really nice, beautiful restaurants like Lindsey's on Liberty in Peoria or The Chateau on the Lake in Pekin that are terrific. For fast food ... Arby's or Steak and Shake.
How about you?
osuche
11-20-2005, 10:47 AM
Give me a quiet little out of the way Itialian joint that serves a decent Chianti, lots of garlic (and some red sauce to go with it), and specializes in seafood. They MUST make their bread fresh and serve it with spiced olive oil. For dessert, they will have the most lovely tiramisu. The service will be low-key, and the staff will know me on sight. The environment will be quiet enough that I can have a real CONVERSATION during dinner, and the prices should allow us to complete a meal for less than $65.
Don't want much do I?

Not much of a vacation - but I returned to my home town (Springfield, IL)about 15 months ago for my mother's funeral. I had a few days all to myself on either side of the interment and was able to visit all those places I grew up in and around. While the reason for the trip was sad - it was good to get back to my roots and stroll down memory lane.

dicksbro

Someplace away from cities ... where life is more relaxed and nature-oriented. Loved the cabin we used to go to up near Heyward, WI; the Smokey Mountains National Park; a naturist resort in Michigan ... places like that.

Actually we did a perfect vacation and it was with kids no less.
A Caribbean island for 2 weeks of laying on different beaches, burning up one blender by mixing too many pina coladas, and climbing down a cliff to get to one secluded beach ..... and Mrs & I snorkeled over to a cave and ummmmm.... christened it! The kids loved the beaches, food and native kids....... wish we could do that again!
