View Full Version : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday...

This topic came up the other night in conversation.

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child must work for a living,
But the child that's born on the Sabbath day
Is fair and wise and good and gay.

Which child are you? Do you feel that ^^^ is accurate?

(For those of you who don't know which day of the week you were born on, click here (http://www.fi.edu/time/Journey/OnceUponATime/dayofweekbirth.htm).)

<----is a Monday's child.

Thursday's Child and I feel mine is absolutely correct. My life will be a journey.

<======== is a Wednesday's Child. If full of woe means I have a lot of bad luck, then yes, it's quite accurate.

How funny, everyone!

I have a little bit of a self-esteem problem, so I'm not sure how accurate mine is. I'm sure my opinion would be slightly different than someone else's. :)

Monday - fair of face?

I don't think that applies to me, but others may have a different opinion

<--- doesn't exactly seem to be full of grace either.

Unless of course, they're refering to a hot senorita named Grace! Wahooo!

I was born on a Sunday, although I know a slightly different version of the rhyme (the English version, maybe?) It's the same until if comes to Sunday which goes:

"And the child that is born on the Sabbath day,
Is bonnie and blythe and good and gay."

Don't even know what blythe means, so perhaps I've remembered that bit wrong!

Blythe, in the Olde English, or Blithe today means:

blithe ( P ) Pronunciation Key (blth, blth)
adj. blith·er, blith·est
Carefree and lighthearted.
Lacking or showing a lack of due concern; casual: spoke with blithe ignorance of the true situation.

I guess I'm a Sunday child and it's probably fairly close ... if you use my definitions of the words ... :)

fair ... Try to treat people fairly
wise ... I look both ways before crossing the street; my kids all grew up without me murdering any of them; and I reached the stage I could retire from my career employment. :)
gay ... As in happy ... yep at least most of the time. :)

My wife now was a Monday child and I think that's very accurate. :lust:
