Has anyone seen The Butterfly Affect???? If so what did you think of it? I've heard reviews both ways. Was it too predictible? How about Ashton K., did you think he did a good job?
I saw it last night but was wondering how someone else felt. I also was left with the feeling that a prequel may be in order. What do you think?

I've only seen the previews, I don't think it's out yet here.
Looked a little like a series pilot.
Who said that? What a cynic....

Lilith,
I have not heard of this production. What is it about?

"The "Butterfly Effect" is the propensity of a system to be sensitive to initial conditions.Such systems over time become unpredictable, this idea gave rise to the notion of a butterfly flapping it's wings in one area of the world, causing a tornado or some such weather event to occur in another remote area of the world. "
The movie is about memories and how changing them introduces the butterfly effect.

I found the beginning terribly difficult to watch...just a warning. It deals with some very very serious issues. Stick with it though.

I enjoyed the movie; it's about time that someone did a time travel movie in any decent fashion.

Lilith,
Thank you.
For all those who enjoy SF, you may enjoy the inverse of that premise, Larry Niven's ‘Convergent Series’ (1979). This short story uses the standard plot of a young man who has sold his soul, but introduces a converging sequence to thwart the demon of his prey.

What did he say??????^^^^^^^^^^
LOL! JK jseal! I got it..but had to ingest it twice!
I had heard that Ashton Kutcher <sp?> cancelled most of his interviews for all the bad publicity as this film opened....so therefore, I didn't think it was any good......though the trailers for the flim looked good to me! Hey....what do I know? From your explaination Lil...it sounds like something I'd like to see!
I'm all frahoodled cause I just may finally get to the theater tomorrow (a date with hubby.....YEAH!)....and I have no idea what movie to pick!!!?????

Not that I want a plot line here Lil....but, what could be so offensive? I guess what I'm asking is.....what belief does one have to posess to be offended by this movie? Is it religious? You can PM me that answer if it'll give away too much here. TYVM!

LixyChick,
It is difficult to do anything without offending someone. Ref OldFart's posts in "Time for censorship?".

This is not about offending someone's beliefs....it is just something that some people have a hard time dealing with so some people choose not to view it.

Finally got to see this. Yes the movie was VERY difficult for me to watch. Its only because the movie hit alot of very sensetive issues with me.
My hubby however claimed it to be one of the best movies he has ever seen. It was very good plot, details, etc. I think Ashton and Amy did a great job in it as well.

I agree...and I thought they did an excellent job of allowing the viewer to discover the issue based on their personal experience. Some I am sure realized it immediately while I am sure some to longer to uncover it.

I did get to see it Lil! Yippee for me! As we were leaving the theatre, I told hubby...."Just think hun, we've gotta wait umpteen more years before we see another movie in a theatre....so let's savor this"! LOL!
I loved this movie! I liked that I didn't quite "get it" till it was time to understand (I sometimes jump the gun on plots and it ruins a movie for me)...and I think Ashton and Amy were really good in it.....and it made me jump in surprise at one point (that's always a good thing for me.....the unexpected). Hubby turned to me at the aforementioned "startled moment" and said exactly what I was thinking...."I didn't see that coming"!!!
It was a very worthwhile movie. I'm glad I saw it in the theatre......of which (btw) we went to the 3:45 showing (cause hubby falls asleep at any later show)....and there were only 7 people, including me and hubby. It was nice to spread out!
TY for the review and recommendation Lil!

(((Lixy)))) glad you liked it and had a good time...I jumped then too. Now do you see why some people who realized where it was heading may have had trouble sitting through it?

Yes! I'm glad I wasn't one of them!
I just thought of something funny but I don't want to give away any of the plot here...so I'm gonna PM you this thought Lil!
For those who have no clue.....it's just something hubby told me about a Simpson's episode he saw once! No biggie!
