The link is connecting OK and seems to be working.
I’m getting a repeated note about it being an ‘unregistered copy, evaluation only’.
Now I want to be looking at the BOTTOM of the index page for an addition. :D

If you use the chat link at the top you will get an error message each time you hit enter right now. I know it is annoying as hell but you are the only one who can see it. I have contacted the owners to see what they can do. Until then, using the old chat link does not give you the same message. Sorry for the inconvenience.
PF at this point I'm just glad to have a chat link...to me it's much more crucial than the shout box.

Actually the trade off is that malicious code and can not be run against the bulletin board by the average (or not so average, but non-authorized) poster and cause the whole thing to crash the database. It was getting common on sites that use the older version of Vbulletin. That is what in most cases forced the upgrade to the newer version. I'll take no chat and/or shoutbox instead of no Pixies at all.

So the terrorists win here too.
Lock it down and to where nothing works and we can just post to the Smut Games.
Looks like this new Homeland Security version of Vbulletin is working well.

Frankly I like this search much better....allows me to search exactly the area I am interested in or a broader one by nick or by keyword same as before. What exactly is the problem? If it's the last 500 posts on a nick search, there are ways around that but you have to look in each forum. It's hard on the database and slows shit down (if it were busy and peeps were all using it) so now you have to seriously want the info. Most don't, for those who do, there's loopholes.
I am sure that chat will be corrected very soon. If the error is bothersome (and it was to me) please use the old link until things are sorted. Thanks!

I think I understand what Romial was talking about now Lil. He said his page is now stretched...and I have the same thing. It's only been since you've added the chat link.
Now let's see if I can explain this and make it understandable...
I'm pretty sure I have a 15" monitor...but I am positive it's no more than 17" (sorry...just too comfy to go get a tape measure and I can't recall the dimensions from when we bought it). Anyway...there have been times...in certain threads...when the extremely large HTML codes were used to make a humongous statement and it stretched out the page so that you'd have to use the scroll bar at the bottom to read all the way across the page and then scroll it back to get to the beginning of the sentence again. Ya know (I don't know if it has a special putereze word for it), it's like the bar at the right side of pages were you scroll up and down...only it's now on the bottom of my monitor too, just above my tool bar, so that I can scroll the page to read the last two or three words in a sentence or thought. If the sentence or thought is too long, a few words now get lost all the way to the right of my screen and I have to use the scroll thingy to move the page over to read the last bits. It's not like this on every thread if it's kept short and sweet and doesn't have too many dots like this.......................................................................................
or whatever else might be/is causing it. And, it's not a long way to scroll to see it all...maybe only a half inch or so...compared to if you have a full page in view and you have to scroll up and down and it's a mile long one way or the other.
But, I think his point is...now that the CHAT thing is in place and we have to type in our nic as opposed to it just recognizing us...it has stretched out our page on all the threads so that some words have to be scrolled to view an entire thought.
MAKE SENSE? It sure did in my head, before I started typing it and then reread it! Lemme know iffin you can make heads or tails of it...k?
I don't think it's something we couldn't get used to. It's just never happened before unless I've read a thread that took up too much HTML space and I had to scroll over to read an entire thought.
Now...the best question of all! Are me and Romial the only ones having this happening to us? I have to know! Only problem is...I worded it as best I can I don't don't know how to ask any better or how I can fix it on my own if it's only him and I. Should I start a thread about it and confuse the hell out of the rest of the clan? LOL!
HELP!

OK....I will report it to the peeps working on stuff.....does everyone who has the problem have a 15" monitor....I'm on my mom's old one that is that size and the pages are basically larger than the screen so I think I get it too. At home I have a big monitor so I did not notice. Thanks Lixy and Steph!

Irish? It's not happening IN chat...but, I think, because of how the chat link is set up (have to enter nic before entering...blah, blah, blah). It sorta elongates...no...stretches my pages width-wise now...and so I do think it is because I have a 15" monitor. TY Lil...and Steph (OMG...ghetto machines...lmfao!)...and BIBI (ROFLMFAO@her!).

08-17-2004, 05:39 PM
the problem isn't the size of your computer it's the screen resolution that it is set at(800x600). the graphics of the caht bar are to long and cause the problem. It's easy enough to fix just go to the control panel then display then settings and change it to 1024 x 768 and you should have no problems any more this will make thing just a bit smaller and maybe if you have old eyes harder to read(this might be a sign you need glasses or time to get new ones).
MilkToast
08-17-2004, 06:33 PM
strange... I tried some experiments with dropping the display resolution on my monitor down a step at a time (I usually use 1600x1200). Even at 1024x768 the browser (when full screen) did not have an issue with having to scroll the slider bar (as it was not there) when browsing the forums. The title image also seemed to resize appropriately. Only when I got down to 800x600 did it become and issue.
I checked on both Firefox 0.9.3 and MSIE (what ever version is in XP SP2). Are either of you running a resolution at or below 800x600?

On my puter I can change text size by going to the top ^ ^ tool bar.
Go to "View" and then "Text Size". Select a smaller size.
Maybe that will help those with the 'stretch' troubles.
Lilith, I got into chat using the new link on site. Got the annoying error message too. Also couldn't get my '@' with the usual command. It seemed to be working ok otherwise but I'll stick with pixiemIRC for now. Thanks. :) :)

I was going to recommend the resolution as well. I'm on a laptop that I'm certain is no bigger than 15 inches and no problems... but I have a higher numbered resolution as suggested above.

No, I was using 800x600. I've gone with Boog's suggestion but the text does seem quite small now. I increased the text size and poof, the scroll bar at the bottom appeared again.

*waiting this out for the finate suggestion...growling at the scrollbar*
Truthfully, it's really not that bad to scroll and I already wear glasses to read so I better not make anything smaller at the moment...LOL! I'll just sit this out till we get a final, definate suggestion.
BTW...I very, very rarely go to control panel...display...settings, cause I ain't all that prolific with this thang!
LixyChick
08-18-2004, 05:07 AM
OK...being the curious one, I have to ask...how in the hell can you peeps find and read stuff with that high resolution?
Yep! I tried Booger's suggestion to change it and...holy friggin moly that was small at 1024x768! I'm set at 800x600, and I guess I have been from the start. If I change it now, Mr. Lixy will think he's aged overnight! LOL! I didn't have the scrollbar here at Pixies till just recently...so I've got to figure it's a Pixie thing. I also tried Teddy's suggestion but nothing significant happened.
Is it just me...or is this getting curiouser and curiouser? I know...I know...well, it's a word now!
I'll just be over on the Pixie sofa, waiting this out!--------------->

Awwwwwww! Ain't no thang Lil! I'm just glad to not be the only one it's happening to...cause I hate when that happens. It ain't all that bad. I was thinking of trying the changing of the resolution thingy sometime this weekend to see if Mr. Lixy can get used to it. If any other solution pops up in the meantime, I'll be watching for the instructions.
