I am going on a girls weekend next weekend (the first time I've ever done this) to New Orleans.....I can't handle much alchohol at all anyway...but what are the rules to drinkin? Some say don't mix liquor with beer, etc. As it is, one margarita makes my head spin.
I would stick to the rule of not mixing your alchohols. I know if I do that I always get sick and you don't want to be puking in some bar now do you??? :D

Assuming you don't want to get plastered... Have a one-on-one with the waiter as soon as you get into the bar, and tell him that you want *everything* virgin....even though you don't want your friends to know. Then order "strawberry daquiris" all evening, knowing you're getting the ones without alcohol. :D
Been there, done that. :) An extra tip helps, too.

osuche has the right idea, if you do wanna drink, don't mix really sweet shots with other drinks, that makes some people yodel lunch.

Order a gigantic mudslide (or 2 or 3) and slurp it all night! When you get home/back to the hotel drink 2 big glasses of water and take 2 aspirin (must be aspirin). A mudslide is usually not very strong and is delish :slurp:

It takes approximately 1 hour for your body to process 1 unit of alcohol, so drink slowly, and alternate between drinking one alcoholic drink and one or two soft drinks (water, fruit juice, coke, whatever)......this helps to prevent the dehydration that is a hang over and means you'll pace yourself properly.
Don't feel pressured into drinking more than you're comfortable with and insist that you're more fun when you're sober. Alcohol is for people who have inhibitions to lose.....tell your girl friends you don't have any inhibitions so you don't need to drink alcohol.

sounds like a blast (((IWM)))...and yes..i agreee with any of the above take-it-easy strategies. if you can't handle alcohol, then go slow and lil's right ...must be aspirin for the hangover and LOTS of water.

The best advice is to know when to stop. Stay away from those competition games to see who can get sloshed first they are all bull shit anyway. Nothing fun about the room spinning beyond your controll and throwing up all over the place.I was always the one who had to stay "dry" enough to get everybody else home safely.Thank God in all those years, nobody ever barfed in my car.Just enjoy yourself but know your limit. As far as mixing your liquor goes, hhmmmm I never had any problem with that.

Best advice:
If you drink, dont' park.
Accidents cause people.

And one more thing IWM...if you do want to drink and you do drink a lot...make sure you don't eat/drink something that won't make you sicker after you bring it up to salute it at the end of the night!
EXAMPLE: Pizza and black sambuuca...YUCKKKKKKKKKKKK!
Have fun hun!

Thanks everyone!!! Great tips... I am sure I'll be the sober one, as always. Which is fine, I'm always the goofy one anyway.
THANK YOU ALL!!!!

for some the mixing doesn't really apply. but for some it does.
just don't drink an extreme amount of either if you do mix :D

Lixy's post reminded me....Avoid sweets and alcohol....By all means...Over new years (when I was quite depressed about my now ex boyfriend not being home) I made peanut butter balls (peanut butter balls covered in chocolate, delicious) for my guests. After they left, I polished off the rest of the PB balls with quite a bit of whiskey and spent the night SICK SICK SICK.
Just go slow, don't overdo it :) if your friends tease you (you should be past the teasing age lol) just tell them that you're saving room for more later or follow osuche's advice (that was a really good idea, will have to remember it)
I cant tell you much about mixing liquors since it doesn't bother me at all, I can go from beer to whiskey to rum to something completely different in the same night and not really be all that affected at the time...of course, I always wake up with the same hangover in the morning :D lol

my advice is to MIX!
that's right - for every alcoholic drink you have, have a glass of water or seltzer... then order the next drink....
