IAKG is on the move!
Monday morning I will accept a position with a law firm in New England. It's a terrific opportunity for me, one that I really shouldn't pass up. Great job, great benefits, fresh start...it's a good thing.
And, as some of you may know, there is an added bonus in the picture. Several months ago, I reconnected through Classmates with my first "real" love. That's a *very* good thing.
Happiness abounds when you least expect it.
Sooooooo...for the next roughly month, I may be a little incognito from time to time, trying to figure out and take care of all of the practical issues of moving me, two children and one hamster cross-country. :) I'll still be popping in from time to time, but there may be periods which are more hectic than others. Rest assured that your PMs *will* be answered, and I am thinking of you all!
P.S. I still plan on being IAKG...I wouldn't be me without her!

The trebuchet people scare me! It's like they're a cult or something!
IAKG and SDLS -- always confusing to me, too. I never thought of what the names stood for - just knew the women behind the confusing acronyms. :D
I wish you well but hell, we'll PM 15 times a day. Congrats, biatch. :D

Iowawegians are loosing one of their best, New Englanders better know that they are gaining a wonderful gal-n-kids-n-hamster, otherwise i'll have to kick some butt there.
I am happy for ya sweetie, and that you found love and happiness and may it always abound with you, your kids and your man.
Love ya, Lizz:D

KG, whatever you do don't let PRAD anywhere near the kids.!!!
PF hasn't told you the whole truth about PRAD, and I have severe misgivings
of putting PF, kids and a trebuchet in the same sentence. Oooops, I just did.
Don't say you wasn't warned, girl.

I did... and let me tell you, I'm what Murphy's Law is all about - if it can go wrong, it will for me. But I hope I'm coming to the other end of all the mishaps. Buying a home has got to be easier than selling mine ;) I've got less than a week left in the South now... but I still need to find a house and move all my things out of a CT storage facility. I think osuche knows too much about arriving and not having a "home".

Oh, yes, I'm sure she does. I *do* feel for you. It appears that I am going to be renting my house, for a variety of reasons, and, fortunately, I already have a renter lined up. That helps. Still--I currently have no home to go to here. :D

Just an update--I've got a move-in date on the apartment, which is right across the street from my children's new elementary school (complete with before/after-school program). The moving truck is set up as well, and I'm currently planning out my driving route to the northeast.
Big issues still to resolve are care for my children when school is not in session and moving help when I arrive in New England to help unload the truck. That is, of course, unless some NE big, strong Pixies men want to head on over. ;)

I wanted to let you know that you and this post crossed my mind yesterday as I passed more than one fresh fruit/veggie stand on the roadside that advertised "local corn" or "native corn"! I've yet to see the fields, but I am compelled to believe they have them somewhere
IAKaraokeGirl
07-24-2005, 09:34 PM
LOL @ Maddy! They're starting to harvest all of that Iowa sweet corn, more so in the next week or two, and the stands here are really pushing it big--huge article on sweet corn in today's Sunday paper as well. Good to know I won't *totally* miss the corn thing, although I've lived in Iowa almost seven years and never once made it to the Sweet Corn Festival. :rolleyes2

*bump*
Quick update, everyone. I have some moving help coming in the morning to help me start moving the myriad of boxes out of my living room and onto the semi-truck trailer in front of my house. I'm hoping to load EVERYTHING tomorrow, but we shall see.
Saturday, I head southeast to visit my family and drop off the kiddos at my parents for a few weeks, then begin my long journey northward. After a few stops along the way, and barring anything unforeseen, I should arrive in New Hampshire late afternoon Tuesday. I'm running the whole gamut of emotions, from being excited about this new part of my life to anticipatory, anxious to be there *already* to stressed about getting everything done to feeling sadness about the friends and memories I'm leaving behind.
I will be out of Pixie-range off and on from late tomorrow afternoon until Wednesday afternoon. Whenever I'm near a wi-fi connection, I'll be firing up the laptop to check and respond to messages.
Keep an eye on everything for me, will ya? :)
