My friend is on the phone and will not shut the fuck up about this new man that she has...she has done this every night for about a week now and it's getting old. seriously. I can't tell anyone else about it, so I'm telling you guys.
Anyone ever do this to you?
P.S. thanks for listening.

Tell her you love her but to knock it the fuck off :p

I wish I felt like I could. I usually just let her prattle on and do whatever else I need to do while she talks to herself.
Felt like you could? Of course you can. Simply tell her you're sure this new guy is great and you've heard enough about him for the time being. Then tell her Aqua posted new pics and they're fantastic and you gotta go cause the laundry is burning. Hang up and she'll be so confused she'll be afraid to talk about him next time she calls.

haha Aqua you crack me up! I have a sneaking suspicion that she and I are about to have a bad connection...
i would just change the direction of the conversation when he comes up. or you could have fun with it and ask her if the sex is good? get all the dirty details too. ;)

Puhleeze. They aren't having sex. Yet.
Everytime I try to change the subject, she steers it right back. She has a tendancy to overanalyze everything and i'm used to that, but this is getting old.
I"m chalking it up to the newness of the relationship.

I would read, surf the Web, etc. when she blathers.
I would not answer the phone often.
I would yawn loudly after five minutes of blather.
I would tell her to stop obsessing because she was going to scare the poor bloke away.
I would use all of the above, depending on my mood.

1. check. Like, super check.
2. check
3. not check - perhaps I should try this tactic
4. kindacheck - i've tried doing this nicely. I need to just be a little more direct about it. Funny how I have no problem being direct with random strangers, but with my best friends i beat around the bush, so to speak.

A good reason to put her on speaker phone and every now and then mutter "I see" or "Sure" all the while you can be visiting your favorite internet site or taking a shower and she'll never be the wiser! Good time to catch a nap too......

Comedian David Brenner made this suggestion years ago to end annoying phone conversations...it would be rude & obvious to hang up while they're talking, so instead, cut yourself off just as you begin to make what seems like an important point...then leave the phone off hook after the connection is broken so you can get back to whatever it is you need to do, then next time you talk blame it on the &^$#*@ phone co...
