This coming weekend is a very special weekend. Naturally, Sunday is Mother’s Day and so for my wife and for all you ladies here at Pixies; a sincere and heartfelt wish for the happiest of Mother’s Days ever. Whether you’ve had children or not, women seem supremely blessed with a nuturing and caring demeanor and so, therefore, are all entitled to have special respect and honor paid to you this weekend (and every day).
For me, there’s a very special reason to celebrate this weekend. Not only is my beautiful wife the mother of our seven children, but Sunday the 14th is also the 46th anniversary of the day the two of us met on a blind date. Truly one of the most important and wonderful days of my life. In June we’ll celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary, but since the day we met; our meeting anniversary has an especially important day in our lives. I know and appreciate the blessing she has been in my life. God has been good to me.
Monday will also be special. It’ll be the fourth anniversary of my joining Pixies and a very special family of people. I‘ve really enjoyed these four years and the chance to get to know several of you.
All of you are very special to me. I am so impressed with the wisdom and compassion that I see here. We have fun; we kid, we joke, we tease and flirt … and if that‘s all it was, it would be special. But more than that, I‘ve seen people rally around one another at times of stress; or when weather or the world are bearing down. I‘ve seen expressions of concern when a member of our “family“ is gone for a few days and the joy when, at last, the person logs back in. Many families are not as open in the their love for one another as what I see here.
My wife is only slowly getting the hang of using the computer and hasn‘t joined Pixies yet; but she‘s come to know many of you and so when I say Lixy or IAKG or PF or Lilith or Steph or IWM or Sharni or DM383 or jseal or any of a dozen more of you … she knows who I mean. My wife runs a Before and After Care program at a parochial school; and when I mention that any of you are concerned about something in your lives or celebrating something truly wonderful or facing an important event; she has the children she watches pray for you. Prayers of concern and or prayers of joy depending on what’s happening. Like me, she has come to love you all. And, of course, the two of us also pray for you … every day.
As I have in the past, I will apologize if I’ve ever said or done anything to hurt anyone here. I love to joke and kid and may sometimes go a bit far; and, I know my somewhat conservative leanings may not match everyone’s perspective on life. But never would I intentionally do anything to cause you grief or pain. You’re each far too special for that. I just thank you all for accepting me and putting up with me ... me and my silly jokes (did I hear groaning? ;) ).
Anyway, enough rambling. I love you and God bless you all!
