True non-partisan

Today I have had 7 political calls from MACHINES. :hair: (2 for Obama, 5 McCain) Some time back when our wonderful legislators were all shouting the news of how they had created the "no call list" law for the FCC after people were ready tare down the phone poles, they forgot to mention on little thing. The law had a few exceptions. Mainly, political campaigning was not subject to the restrictions even if you had jumped through the hoops to officially get your phone number on the list.

I love seeing truly non-partisan laws passed by both parties without dispute. .......... self serving bunch of bastards.

It sucks. Bill Clinton called my cellphone yesterday...while I was in the middle of a meeting :(

I was not amused.

John Howard (our ex-Prime Minister), called me personally during our last elections. He was so happy to be talking to me I could not seem to catch his attention. Hmmmm.

Why PF you were almost sounding Australian there for a moment.

Only if you can convince me that voting for you would be in my best interest. :x:

I had heard that the no call list was going to be extended to pre-recorded calls, but that hasn't stopped the alarmist messages about "my account"...

and pushing "2" to remove my name from the list doesn't do a damn bit o' good, either.

Personally, I call Tess "sexy" (but I do so at the risk of angering her Joe)

When they call, I just tell them that, "I made it a practice to NOT to vote for anyone bothering me at home with phone calls." Usually they've apologized and hung up. :)

If they're calling with an "opinion" poll,I also tell them that I don't discuss
politics on the phone! They always seem to call at dinnertime! My wife just
looks at the back of the phone & if it's an 800#,she just won't answer it.

Any kind of cold calling really pisses me off, especially since they typically call when I'm in the middle of changing a diaper  The use of machines to call people is especially annoying since I can't talk back. If it's a person calling I usually go with what dicksbro suggested and tell them that on principle I never buy (information or tangible goods) from anyone calling me or knocking at the door.

There's a super revenge to a cold caller on youtube if anyone needs a smile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5z4Vs26-TI :) Maybe not altogether fair on the poor guy who rang, but funny anyway :p

Betty White left a message on my machine the other day in support of one of the candidates for state senate here in Iowa. I thought that was sort of strange.
