Did anyone get any real good deals? Did you do anything different this year than in years past due to the economy?

I got to work from 3am to noon, does that count??? :cock:
We went out and looked around some, but didn't see anything that was such an awesome deal we had to buy.
One thing that I found to be rather funny was going to a store that sells TVs, DVD players, home theater stuff, etc, (their prices are really good pretty much all the time), and then going to an outlet store for a company that recently filed bankruptcy and is closing several stores to find big banners touting their huge clearance sale and how everything must go... only to find that the first place was still cheaper. :p

This year I have broken my practice of being finished with Christmas shopping by Thanksgiving. :banghead: As for being sucked under in the quicksand of the herd, I did nothing different this year and didn't leave the house on Friday but I did try to snag two items (8Gb thumb drive, 22" LCD monitor) from online one-day specials. Both items were sold out before I could get my cart to checkout and one of them was at 07:00. That was enough shopping mayhem for me.
Now I've become part of the craziness of waiting for the deals to show in the last two weeks and still being sure of delivery. :hair:
(actually only the monitor was a gift and one of the last three on my list)

Which probably explains why the company is in bankruptcy.

I did the same thing, but I got in online Thursday evening to snag a couple of close-out deals (an MP3 player & an 8-gB thumb drive), which were supposed to be ready for me to pick up at the store 24 minutes after they opened Friday a.m. I didn't get around to picking them up until Sat evening, & when I got there they hadn't pulled them from stock. Turns out they had sold out of the thumb drives, & the MP3 was the last one in stock. And because my order was not ready, they had to pay out $24 (in gift card) on their guarantee, AND refund the flash drive price on my credit card. They had a net loss of $8 on my Black Friday transaction...which again, probably says a lot about why they're going under.

Coaster: the crowd only stomped the man to death because they missed.
They were actually trying to stomp a pregnant woman to death.

I've been celebrating the day after Thanksgiving as: Buy Nothing Day.Now,after one poor guy was stomped to death at a Wal-Mart, {a place I have never set one foot inside of} and another woman was shot by a gun toting shopper. What are you thinking when you gotta pack heat when you go shopping?
