I'm having a wine sampling at my house and am planning the menu. What I need help with is cheese and chocolate suggestions. If you have a cheese or chocolate that you simply adore, can you let me know what it is and where you found it?

To keep with the Irish theme I like Kerry Gold Cheddar I've seen it in most markets around here

I've seen that here. I'll add that to my list.

Definitely good English or Irish cheddar  I like a good strong (sharp?) Farmhouse Cheddar myself. Can't help with where to get them there as I don't know, the cheese here is like plastic, although I've acquired a taste for it  I like goats cheese, too. Soft and fairly mild.

Here's quite a good article on Chocolate & Wine pairings, (http://www.celebrations.com/article/Divine-Pairings-Chocolate-and-Wine) and there are some Wine & Cheese pairing suggestions here (http://www.redbookmag.com/recipes-home/tips-advice/wine-cheese-party-hl)

Have a fun evening!

I LOVE St. Andre, which is a form of brie but very very creamy.

As for chocolate, Lindt truffles. Yum.

IF the plan is totally focused on the wine then keep the food very plain. If the plan is a food and wine thing together then your options are much more broad. Drop me a private note if you like as wine is a hobby/passion of mine!

:)

There will simply be cheese, fresh bread, fruit, and chocolate. I want the focus to be the wines.

when i waited tables we did a wine tasting each month. for the cheese we ran the gambit from very flavourful to very mild, maybe soft room temp or slightly warmer brie on water crackers (dude, a bit o apricot jam ....outstanding) we found bread was often viewed as bulky and more of a mouthful, they knew what the bread tasted like and wanted to be able to look all cool and dainty with small daubs of shit. some of the more fleshy melons....(go ahead, snicker.)fucktards
I'll wait for you to calm down...
ok they have a nice flavor as well as berries, grapes tend to be viewed more as decor but do nontheless get eaten.i also suggest staging the wines with the bread and cheese centered fruit backed by the whites chill tubs always a good idea (including blushed/sparkling wines if to be included) as for chocolate..... I never fucked with that table, i am fond of neither red wine nor chocolate so i made someone else set that display up also tho truffles are good, for tasting its a good idea to have bits of milk, dark and white as well as even something with a cocoa base. supposedly the "fuller reds" tend to "be accentuated by the milk chocolate which takes some of the bitter oakiness out for those who dont enjoy the mouth being dry after you drink somethin... the darker chocolate..............fuck i dunno we mumbled somethin about merlot....blah blah noir blah blah some were not even coherant after trying about 5 different whites (remember, one bottle of wine should contain 4 servings.....god i hate my memory)before moving over to the red wine table.....

there. take it for what its worth.

I work factory work now.

I think we should squish out some juice together for Lilith.

Not a factory PF. A warehouse, and it's for dvds. So unless you want to put the berries under a fork lift and have it run them over you won't get anything squished. Sorry to ruin you're idea of fun.

Who is John???????????

Lord Snow
03-11-2009, 07:20 PM
Depends on which John you're referring to. There's always Prince John from the Robin Stories.........John Candy the comedian and actor........

Lilith

Lily O'Brien chocolates are fantastic...though I'm not sure where to get them these days...Walmart used to carry them during the big chocolate holidays.

Lilith

It's tonight. I hope I have enough stuff. It has gone from an intimate little group to a vagina laden throw-down :p

My aide was being a brat because I did not invite him or my male intern so I told them that if they could grow a vagina by 7 pm they could come :p

PantyFanatic
03-20-2009, 03:57 PM
If they could do that they won't have to come to your house for a good time. ;)

Try to keep it that way. I have had a few hellacious ones. The kind where I kept hearing this horrendous noise that made my head pound and then I'd hurl. Finally figured out it was the sound of my eyelashes when I blinked.

Don't forget to get everyone else out of the house too. Those damn cats will lay around slamming their eye lids up and down all night. :hair:

Or how you'd like to kill that damned housefly stomping across the table, but you know you can't stand the roaring sound of bug spray...

I've been drunk to where I couldn't walk straight, and drunk enough to puke. Never woke up with a hangover. My Dad on the other hand.....He's been legally deaf since high school. Once he was old enough to legally drink his father took him out and got him drunk on wine. The next morning (according to him) he walked downstairs and asked his mom to fry the eggs a little quieter. Then his brother in law came roaring in and took him out to bail hay all day. Gotta love family.

Worst hangover ever and my mother drove me 45 minutes to the McD's I worked at and deposited my ass there to serve breakfast. "Can I take your order please?" *wretch* "Thanks and come again" *wretch*
