My wife and I just celebrated our 42nd "meeting" anniversary (we met on a blind date). Any of you celebrate the day you met that spouse or significant other?

We celebrate the day of our first date (which coincides with a little known holiday, Sweetest Day). We met on my birthday so it is already special :p 42 years.... it is probably the fact that you celebrate all the important things about your relationship that you have been together so long. I have seen 16 Sweetest Days with my guy and hope for many more.

Truly sorry that’s a special day for you Lil. That happens to be the only “holiday” I can’t acknowledge. I have no problem with the commercialization of anything that has it’s roots in something,….. anything. But a day CREATED totally for and by Madison Ave. pisses me off. Insulting my intelligence doesn’t put me in a spending mood.
(OK Diva. Now you can move this to your bitching thread.) :whiteghos
(And I’m not a thread hi-jacker.) so………..
Yes! I enjoy celebrating all the special days and events for my partner and I, especially the ones without names. We had our annual pumpkin ride because when we were dating we drove from Cleveland to Virginia looking for the perfect pumpkin. Have done flowers and gone to dinner explicitly to recall a canoe trip to Ely Minnesota where we saw a sky with so many stars that it was almost impossible to find anything recognizable. I like doing it!:)

I have to admit, I'm not much of an anniversary person. I'm probably the least sentimental person I know but am impressed with Lilith and pantyfanatic's romantic imagination!

Twisted and I celebrate the day we got together. We were friends for quite awhile before that. We also celebrate the day he proposed... Dec.24, it is a hectic day of course, but we always sit together and have a drink when we are done playing Santa!
These are the only two days we are sentimental about.

Well, we don't "celebrate" it as such..no special activities or anything like that, but we do "remember" the day on which we met....Aug. 26. And we became engaged on Halloween.
And next month will celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary.
And to think I always said I'd never marry anyone I met in a bar!:p :D :p

My SO and I have a few dates we remember...the day we met (distantly), the day we first met in person, the first time we were intimate, to name a few. I'm very much a date person, as well as sentimental, so it's quite easy for me.

I'm told (by Mr. Lixy) that we met on an earlier date than I remember! I was tending bar in a "go-go" (lol......that term always slays me) bar....and it was a very busy place. He says he'd been in several times before I remember actually noticing him....and the kicker is......he says my bos intro'd us and I flirted with him. Hmmmmmm......I spose that coulda been me.....but.....I just don't remember it specifically. I do remember eventually outright flirting with him (stuff like....I'd walk by and whisper, "Do you realize I am totally naked under all these clothes"? Hey! I had to compete with the near naked dancers...lol!) and I remember when I finally realized he was the guy for me....but that was over a year later. Yikes! I'm usually not so dense!

Don't know when we first met but our first date was on Halloween. Did that indicate our life together would be dark, spooky and full of creepy things? Or does it tie in with the candy somehow? hmmmmm.....

I didn't remember posting that ^^^, but I did remember the thread.
Kleclere and I first met in person a year ago today, with him driving waaaaaaaaaaay out of his way (we're talking hours) just to see if IAKG was the same in real life as she was virtually. I guess I don't need to tell you all that the meeting went pretty well. :)
Any of you newbies (or not!) have anything to add to this thread?

i can never remember dates. we just had our eighth anniversary and if he hadn't said anything it would have passed unnoticed. (which would have been incredibly stupid of me considering i had a gift and a card). smells, sounds, sights....those are the things that can get me remembering how we met, our first time, our wedding. i appreciate him every day, not just on the significant ones.

My SO and I celebrate the day we met -- September 30th....this year will be 10 years. Most years we try to go out to dinner together and have a romantic evening...neither one of us is particularly into posessions so we typically don't buy gifts.

We celebrated last year by going away for the weekend to our favourite hotel in Devon.......the year before that, we hadn't met, so it's a bit early to say it's a regular tradition.
