Ladybug Invasion

my room had been invaded by hundreds of ladybugs seeking the warmth and light...... any tips on how to get rid of them? they reek! I hate the smell of them

My daughter would be in "ladybug heaven".

Are they real lady bugs (redw/black spots) or are they brown? If they are lady beetles, they'll move on if you don't have plants with aphids for them to feed on. Some people actually buy them via mail order to rid their gardens of plant-sucking aphids.

When we go to NC they have this problem. I know of no solution. I do know they will feed on rasins soaked in water in a dish if you wanted to make them a new home outdoors.

i once read somehting about rubbing a bar of soap around windows.

FlirtWithMe 11-05-2008 03:38 PM

Can you vacuum them up into a new vacuum cleaner bag and then leave it outside with Lilith's suggestion of soaked raisins next to it? They'll have the shelter of the bag as a little house and food just outside their front door. Stick the bag in a sheltered spot, put some sticks into it as they like nesting in between them, and put the bag behind something that won't move over the winter. They might settle there instead of getting in, and their friends might show up, too.

Hope you find some kind of solution. I don't mind ladybugs and think they're great for the garden but would be kinda freaked if they were all over my walls :yikes:

If you want to run the bugs through the fan, it's up to you, but Lil may not be too keen on the idea .

They should stop at the filter/bag before they hit the fan :whack:

Ewwwww! Get some Raid or call a pest control person. It is my personal feeling that if a bug wants to live it shouldn't invade my bed. Just saying. ;)

PF ... methinks she should have been at PIP 07 and received the magical electric swatter. Toasts all the bugs that ails ya'. :boink:

If you are not wedded to the idea of the bugs living, perhaps a Mountain Dew bottle with an inch or two left in the bottom. The sugar may draw them.

If they're the carnivorous ones, flyspray.
