Made me think of the ol' story of a farmer up in Minnesota in his horse-drawn wagon going down the back roads in the winter. He spots a little bird in the middle of the road and can see the poor little thing is freezing to death. He stops the wagon, gets down, and goes over and picks up the little bird.
Seeing a fresh dropping behind the horse, he sets the little bird down in it and climbs back up on his wagon and leaves.
Sure enough, the warmth of the dropping revives the little bird and it begins to sing.
A fox in the woods hears the little bird sing and goes over to investigate. Seeing it in the dropping, he darts out, grabs the bird and eats it.
The moral of the story is, the one that gets you into a mess, isn't always your enemy; and the one that gets you out isn't always your friend; and, when you're in it up to your neck, don't sing!
