This could be ok. A couple of years ago I was on a week long bike ride (RAGBRAI to anybody who's from Iowa) and there was a local cover/mix band performing. Couple of guitars, drummer and a three piece brass section that just did part of a song and then blended into another. They did one "song" that started with Enter Sandman, went into Peter Gunn, something from Hendrix (I can't remember what), and then back into Enter Sandman.
On the other hand, the best man at my brothers wedding had to walk out of the reception at dinner for a while because the DJ was playing muzak Beatles. He's a huge Beatles fan, and put up with it for a while, but they got to A Day in the Life and he lost it.
I guess my point is, a good mix can be really well done. A bad one makes you want to beat everyone involved.
