I regularly try and help out those in obvious trouble if I can ,even to the point of giving back the the money when the poor checkout chick (who's obviously on her own , snowed under servicing 2 counters, with a long line, and looking a little frazzled round the edges cos she stressing out) gives me too much change ........ gee I'm a nice bloke aren't I
................. unless it's some useless arrogant spotty faced twat behind the regester who deserves a good serve from the boss when he can't explain why the till count is $50 short ..... (True story - I walked into a hardware store looking for a particular tool only to be greeted by a completely disinterested teenager who , when asked if they had what I wanted , blithly waved his arm at the back of the store saying "don't know mate ,have a look back there"...... So after 10 minutes of hunting and finally finding what I was looking for I presented at the register and handed over $50 to the kid who was more interested in the footy game on the TV than serving me . He put the $50 on the till ,pulled out my 30 odd dollars and change then picked up the $50 and handed the lot back to me.When I gave him a quizical look I just got the classic bored blank stare so I smiled ,said "thanks mate" and lauged all the way out the door. I'd loved to have been there when he tried to explain the shortfall .)
