How Far Would You Go

to help ur pet...

friday we had to take the dog to the vet for what we thought was a sore foot. turned out there was an abcess and surgery and drugs and and and well in the end we had to get a loan to cover the "sore paw" and the loan officer and a few friends thought we were insane to put that much love and concern and MONEY into "just a dog" was hard to explain that he was just like a kid to me just a wee bit furrier! so far has cost us about 600 dollars adn we have 3 more visits to go so were looking at possible 1000 bucks, we have pet insurance w 100 dollar copay but we have to pay up front and get remursed . hes doing GREAT now not really even limping anymore and really happy kinda hyper cuz hes not getting exercise but hell be ok

Awwwww! I'd have done the same thing nikki! They really are part of the family and most people understand that. Sorry to hear the stress on your purse is so big, but just knowing you'll get it back is a good thing. Glad to hear your pooch is doing better!

*hugs*

I spent a ton saving my sweet old girlie from heartworm. Small price to pay...

How much is too much for family?

If it's just some dog you have around, that's different, but if it holds a chunk of your

heart, then there isn't a figure you won't try to achieve.

Your vet should be willing to work with you on the payment since you have insurance. If not find a new vet, also that seems like a lot of money for a minor condition.

pet insurance is such a good idea.

I'd do anything for my dog. He is family to me. I'm so happy to hear that your dog is doing better!

reason its so much is because i live in england and converted the pounds to dollars for ya, basicly if a tv costs 300 in dollars itll be 300 pounds for the same tv wich means u pay near 600dollars depending on the days exchange...........sucks but he gets better care off base than he does on and i dont mind payin double if thats a main factor in it. the "minor condition" was an abcess that had his porr wittle bitty paw selled up the size of a freakin orange! (right now think lime) so they had to operate to relieve swelling exraying first to make sure wasnt a tumor or attached to any bones, and then all the drugs hes on and was giving there and all that jazz, no i wont find another vet i LUV this they may a few pounds more than the others but its worth it! ty for the advice tho hun oh and they were willin to work w payment, but if i paid all up front id get the money back faster and not be apyin on it for 3 yrs hehehe

Hmmm....well I wouldn't think that just an abcess would cost that much to fix. My horses have had em before and we treated them without the vet, of course if it went unnoticed for a while, it could have gotten worse.

Anyway, I hope poochie gets better quick! It will all be ok.

And to answer your thread question, I continually give to my pets, why? Because I love them, they are family.

our wishes for a speedy recovery and yes, we would do anything, (absolutely) for our "children" since we have no human kids, Lieber, the dog and Sulley, the cat get spoiled rotten. when it comes to making sure they feel 100% all the time, no cost is too high! (but don't let dr. tom hear you repeat that or his prices may go up!)

My buddy Sam (a cat) is almost 21 years old. He's been with me through divorce, lovers, hell, and high water, etc.
If I don't have at least $6000 in that cat, I don't have a cent in him.

Bottom line is that he's stuck with me all this time.
Was it worth it?
Sure was.
