				Finding a hotel

I know this is probably going to sound sort of stupid but what are the sites you guys find most helpful in finding hotels? I don't travel all that much anymore and the travel I did in the past was always for business and thus I didn't have to make any of the arrangements.
I used one of the sites a few years ago (for the life of me I can't recall which one) and it was such that I just entered an amount I wanted to spend, what area I was looking to stay in and how many stars I wanted the hotel to be rated that I was staying in. The problem was that it didn't give me the chance to say yes or no, it just let me know that it had a hotel and if I wanted it I was sort of getting the reservation blind. Worked out well as I got a great room off of Michigan Ave. in Chicago for $75/night but I'd sort of rather have more choice in the matter while getting the best rate possible.

Any ideas where I should start? I've pretty much gone thru the sites of the individual hotel chains I'm looking at already.

 Thanks much.
