Strange places in our lives
I'm in a strange place in my life.
I'm in the process of selling my home/snail shell of the last 21 years to finance Mrs OF's need to put her footprint on our new home about 20 miles out of town. She came into this place as an almost stranger, so never felt that this place was completely hers. I'm happy with this, because it makes her happy, but casting off my shell is also something to be thought about.
Funnily, we'll be living next door to here for about 5 months while the new place is built, but the disconnection is more imminent than that.
It's a little strange, but I'm OK with it.
As you are my extended family, I thought this was right to share with you.
I'll keep you up to date.

Well I sold my home of almost twenty years last September and I can honestly say that other than the hard work of sorting out, discarding and purging items that had no significance in the big scheme of things......................it was one of the happiest decisions I ever made for myself.
I live in an apartment with no cares in the world regarding any upkeep or maintenence.....a pure joy.
I don't miss my house but I miss the availability of a nice garden, even though there is loads of greenspace to enjoy, because I like tending to gardens and I had won local beautification awards over the years. It was a welcomed change and I am sure you and your lovely wife will be very happy and proud to put your imprint jointly in this new home....it must be a lot of work but exciting nontheless. So worth it once the final results are seen!
Good luck Mr.and Mrs. Oldfart!
BUT OF...is it bigger on the inside than how it looks on the outside? Is it going to be blue? lol

That depends on whether I can get the chamelion circuit running properly. I'm hoping it will take the form of a house, or at least a small neighbourhood bar.

OF, I can relate to the somewhat melancholy feelings you must be having. I had those when we moved from our home in Decatur to the one we have now near Peoria. I loved our first house and while we moved to a much larger place here, I'll always have a warm spot in my heart for our first home. (Sighs a little)

We remodeled our first home so thoroughly that it was barely recognizable...then we sold it and moved into our current home. It took us four or five years to commence doing the same and we've been working on this one for the past ten years. I am pushing myself to make a lot of progress this year so we can be close to "done". I figure this is the last big renovation project that I will tackle myself. If we stay, or if we sell & move, I'll be in a finished home either way.
Exciting times, but yeah...I get it too.

I hate moving. I think once I'm able to get a house that will be it.
