Another gem from the Oz New Service, the ABC.
Police at Ipswich west of Brisbane have charged a 21-year-old tattooist who is accused of putting an obscene picture on a customer's back instead of the image requested.
The 25-year-old customer wanted a yin and yang symbol and a dragon but instead was given a 40 centimetre tattoo of a penis and a rude slogan implying he was gay.
It is believed the pair had earlier been involved in an argument.
Police say the tattooist will appear in court next month charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one charge relating to the Public Safety Act.
I wonder how often this happens, especially with Kanji tattoos?

Sarah Palin's latest.
According to the Oz ABC,
Former US vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin is in the news again after confusing North and South Korea in a radio interview.
When asked for her opinion of the outbreak of hostilities on the Korean peninsula, Ms Palin said the United States needed to 'stand with our North Korean allies'.
"Well, North Korea, this is stemming from a greater problem, when we're all sitting around asking, 'Oh no, what are we going to do,' and we're not having a lot of faith that the White House is going to come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is that North Korea is going to do," she said.
"So this speaks to a bigger picture that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy. But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies."
After being corrected by the interviewer, Ms Palin corrected herself before continuing with the answer, where she said the US needed to press China to put more pressure on North Korea.
Ms Palin, a favourite with the Tea Party movement, has previously been criticised for her lack of foreign policy knowledge, including using Alaska's proximity to Russia as an example of foreign policy experience during the 2008 presidential campaign.
She is now widely believed to be positioning herself to run for the White House in the 2012 presidential campaign.

I really, really hope this is true. I lifted this from Snopes.com's Daily Snopes.
.
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Gladys Malarkey is back from the dead - just in time to celebrate her 105th birthday.
The centenarian, who also goes by Toots, was declared dead by Social Security earlier this month.
"They thought I was dead," Toots said, slapping her knee at such nonsense.
Her granddaughter, Bev Ridge, 64, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., explained that several weeks ago she received notice that Toots' bank account was overdrawn.
"My first thought, was Oh no, it's probably fraud,' " Ridge said.
But then she learned Social Security didn't send Malarkey's monthly check. The agency somehow determined Malarkey was no longer living and canceled her $1,100 payments, which cover her expenses at her assisted-living residence.
"When I first called about it, they wouldn't talk to me because I wasn't a payee," Ridge said. "I'm pretty sure they thought I was trying to steal her checks or something."
A payee is a representative appointed to receive benefits for someone who is unable to direct his or her money.
Ridge said a Social Security employee went to the home of Ridge's deceased mother, who shared Malarkey's last name, and was told by neighbors that the woman had been dead for years - not realizing they were talking about a different person.
Ridge offered to bring her grandmother to the Fort Myers Social Security office as proof. Instead, Social Security sent a representative to her.
Patti Patterson, spokeswoman for the Social Security office in Atlanta, said such mistakes are rare. She said the agency receives death notices from family members, hospitals and funeral homes, and they're usually verified with a death certificate.
"As soon as we become aware of a situation where our records are incorrect, we immediately take action," Patterson said. "I know this was really upsetting to the family, and we're working with them to take care of any concerns."
Malarkey, for her part, seems to have few concerns. Despite failing eyesight and hearing, she spends her days joking with friends, taking shopping excursions and listening to "little records," as she calls CDs. She hums to her favorite song, "Somewhere My Love," surrounded by her great-great-grandchildren's drawings - mostly sea horses, which she loves because "they're so rare."
When she was born in a small coal-mining town in southwestern Pennsylvania, the American flag had just 45 stars, only 8 percent of homes had a phone and the average life expectancy was 47 - which Toots has surpassed by 58 years.
On her birthday Tuesday, she looked forward to savoring chocolate cake, listening to live piano music, donning a new gown, dancing the two-step and being surrounded by friends. It's all part of her secret to longevity:
"Live with love in your heart and a smile on your face."

Some people just don't learn, or is it stalking?
From the files of the AFP new service,
A motorist caught speeding in London two years ago moved to New Zealand only to be booked by the same police officer for again exceeding the limit, reports said.
Former London bobby Andy Flitton ticketed the man in Britain two years ago, shortly before migrating to New Zealand - then caught him again in September on a highway on the South Island, the New Zealand Herald reported.
Mr Flitton, who now works for the New Zealand traffic police, said he had forgotten about the original booking until the man approached him while he was writing out the ticket.
"He asked if I had worked in London, I said 'yes'. He asked if I used to operate the laser gun on the A5 in North London, I said 'yes'," Mr Flitton told the newspaper.
"And he said 'I thought it was you, you gave me my last speeding ticket there two years ago'."
Mr Flitton said the man told him he had moved to New Zealand two weeks before his latest booking, unaware his nemesis was also in the same country.
"We must have some sort of connection," he said. "He only ever broke the law twice and both times I was the one to give him a ticket... it just shows what a small world it really is."

I saw this lady selecting a certain toy and asked if it was what the kids were wanting this Christmas. She indicated it was and so after she made her selection I took the last one left for my GAL boy and then continued shopping. About 20 minutes later that same lady approached me very timidly in another area of the store and told me she had miscounted and she really needed the one I was getting as well. I handed her the toy and wished her Merry Christmas.

A joke the hubby sent me today:
A shepherd was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of the dust cloud towards him. The driver, a young man in a Broni suit, Gucci shoes, Ray Ban sunglasses and YSL tie, leaned out the window and asked the shepherd, "If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?" The shepherd looked at the man, obviously a yuppie, then looked at his peacefully grazing flock and calmly answered "sure."
The yuppie parked his car, whipped out his IBM ThinkPad and connected it to a cell phone, then he surfed to a NASA page on the internet where he called up a GPS satellite navigation system, scanned the area, and then opened up a database and an Excel spreadsheet with complex formulas. He sent an email on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, received a response. Finally, he prints out a 130-page report on his miniaturized printer then turns to the shepherd and says, "You have exactly 1586 sheep." "That is correct; take one of the sheep," said the shepherd. He watches the young man select one of the animals and bundle it into his car.
Then the shepherd says: "If I can tell you exactly what your business is, will you give me back my animal?" "OK, why not?" answered the young man. "Clearly, you are a consultant," said the shepherd. "That's correct," says the yuppie, "but how did you guess that?" "No guessing required," answers the shepherd. "You turned up here although nobody called you. You want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked, and you don't know crap about my business...... Now give me back my dog."

AZ, I was referring to an old joke I heard a long time ago. Someone called someone a wise ass and they're response was "I can't be a wise ass I never went to college. I'm just a smart ass".
OF, I don't think it narrows the students perceptions I just think it's a waste of money for me to go. I don't know what I'd want to go for a major, so I'd end up getting a degree in Liberal Arts (a general education). Which is basically a degree in nothing. I tend to agree with AZ in this respect "it's just a piece of paper."

Wisdom and intelligence are not the same thing, though, m'lord.
If I hadn't gone to college, I suppose I wouldn't have had the opportunities I've had. However, it wouldn't have kept me from being educated. All one needs for that is a library card and curiosity; from there, you can learn anything.
